My firsthand experience during U2 concert left me awestruck, propelling me to uncover the visionaries who crafted this mesmerizing new live experience.

Behind Sphere’s pioneering concept are industry legends, James Lawrence Dolan, the Executive Chairman and CEO of the iconic Madison Square Garden, and David Dibble, the CEO of Madison Square Garden’s Venture and Innovation Fund. They are harnessing cutting-edge technologies, a mind blowing creativity and science to redefine what audiences can expect from live events. Another creative involved is Guy Barnett, SVP Brand Strategy and Creative Development of Sphere. He refers to Sphere as a living architecture.

Some numbers on Sphere

It can host 18,600 people. The inside contains 160,000 speakers. Sphere partnered with Montreal-based SACO Technologies to design and manufacture the Sphere’s unique LED displays. 80,000 square foot of fully-programmable LED cover the exterior to showcase art and display advertisements. The Sphere has approximately 1.2 million LED pucks. Each puck contains 48 individual LED diodes capable of displaying 256 million different colors.

U2’s electrifying tracks and commanding stage presence are undoubtedly contributing to the Sphere experience, elevating it to new heights.
